Fear of failure or fear of success?

I hear the term "fear of failure" all the time. Is it really a fear of failure? Or a fear of success?
Failure is easy, it requires little effort and little change. When we don't finish what we started or we don't make that change that we need to, we get to stay in that same predictable rut. While we don't have to change anything, we will always have the same reliable things to blame our feelings on.
Success brings change and growth. The scary thing about succeeding is that if you actually do succeed and finish something you started, you might still not be happy. In that moment you may have to face the fact that you can no longer blame things on your situation, but rather you will have to direct those feelings at yourself... Now that is growth!
If you have a fear of success, look inside yourself first. If you can see that your happiness comes from within, rather than what is going on around you, you are already on the way to success! If you are strong enough to see this, then you will realise that there is nothing to fear, because regardless of what happens, you will know that you control your own happiness, regardless of what you finish.
